PATIENT Q&A

The questions you Google at 1 AM.

No judgment. No overwhelm. Just straightforward answers to everyday skin questions.

How do I know if my skin is purging or having a bad reaction?

Purging can occur with ingredients that increase cell turnover, such as retinoids or exfoliating acids, in areas where you normally break out. Burning, significant redness, swelling, or breakouts in unusual areas may indicate a reaction. Stop the suspected product and consult your clinician if symptoms persist.

Why am I getting acne in my thirties?

Adult acne can be influenced by hormones, stress, skincare products, and medications. A dermatologist can assess your pattern of breakouts and recommend a treatment plan rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all routine.

Is my skin barrier damaged?

Tightness, stinging with gentle products, unexpected dryness, and redness can signal a stressed barrier, but other skin conditions can look similar. Simplify to a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, and seek an assessment if symptoms continue.

Do I still need sunscreen on cloudy days?

Yes. UV exposure can occur on cloudy days. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, reapply at least every two hours outdoors and after swimming or sweating, and add shade and protective clothing.

Better skin starts with a conversation.
